Virginia Ann Brooks, age 81, passed away December 20, 2024, in Floresville, Texas. Virginia was born on August 10, 1943, to J.D. Brooks and Addie Wilson Brooks in San Saba, Tx.
The Family moved to San Antonio; TX due to her brother contracting Polio. Dennis recovered & the family continued their lives in San Antonio. Virginia graduated high school from Harlandale High School and continued to receive her Bachlors Degree in Political Science & Physical Education from Howard Payne College.
She returned to San Antonio & began her teaching career at Harlandale Junior High where she had attended as a student years before. She taught history & coached girls sports until 1982 when she changed school districts. She then taught in the East Central ISD until she retired in 1997.
Virginia enjoyed spoiling her nieces & nephews as well as her grandnieces and nephews. Her life was full because of her love for her family, pets and her favorite sports teams, especially the Dallas Cowboys. She enjoyed reading, eating Mexican food, watching soap operas and game shows. She loved playing card games with her family but most of all she loved her beloved dogs.
At the end of life, she was in the care of Floresville Residence & Rehabilitation Center in Floresville, TX.
Virginia is survived by, from San Antonio, TX, Sister Debbie Key, husband Steve, niece Shanell Laskowski, husband Clint & grandnephew Archer. Nephew Brandon Key, fiancé Chasity & grandnephew Taylor. Nephew Todd Brooks, wife Lisa, (son of brother Dennis deceased), grandniece Jessica Brooks Lang, husband Ivan & great grandnephew Timothy. From Conroe, TX…Sister, Annette Spikes (husband Grady deceased), nephew Trey Spikes, wife Amanda, grandnieces, Brooklyn, Bentleigh & London. Nephew Barkley Spikes, wife Lacey, grandniece Finley & grandnephew Rex.
Virginia had a kind heart & not only prepared for life by getting an education & becoming a teacher but prepared for death as well by living according to God's teachings and accepting Christ into her heart at an early age. She will be missed dearly.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the San Saba City Cemetery in San Saba, Tx. The family asks that you please wear blue or your Dallas Cowboy attire to the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home.
