Thomas Barajas

Thomas gained his wings and went to be with His Lord Jesus on August 10, 2026 at the San Saba Rehabilitation and Nursing home after following a lengthy illness.

Thomas was born on March 7, 1945 in San Saba, TX. to Santiago Barajas and Maria Garza. He was the sixth child out of ten.

He married Dominga Torres in 1980 and they built their lives in Austin, TX. where he worked for 22 years as the Ground Keeper, Maintenance Man of the Hugh Flee Market. He never met a stranger, he enjoyed making new friends, sometimes discovering after talking for while the he would know someone in their family. He enjoyed shooting pool, growing plants and making new flower beds every spring.

Survivors include one daughter, Isabel Sunshine Barajas Ortega; three grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; one sister, Margie Barajas Soliz of Brownwood, TX.; and several nieces and nephews.

Thomas is preceded in death by his father, Santiago Barajas; his mother, Maria Garza; sister, Juanita Macisa; sister, Lupe Ynostrosa; brother, Jesus Calderon; brother Santos Sanchez; sister, Mikaela Cadena; brother Miguel Sanchez Jr.; sister, Connie Huizar; and sister, Virginia Garcia.

We as a family want to Thank God for the time and wonderful, funny memories. You will always be remembered for your sense of humor. You will be truly missed and forever remain alive in our hearts.

A funeral service for Thomas will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Blaylock Funeral Home in San Saba, Tx. and will be officiated by Pastor Martin Venegas. Interment will take place at Senterfitt Cemetery following the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home in San Saba.

Pallbearers: Eleuterio Acevedo, Eleuterio Acevedo Jr., Carlos Barajas, Ethan Nead, Johnny Tijerina, and Steve Ynostrosa.
