Tanner Wayne
Shanks
Mar 25, 1979 — Jul 27, 2025
San Saba
Tanner Wayne "Bubba" Shanks, 46, passed away on July 27, 2025, in San Saba, Texas. A funeral service will be held on August 2, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Blaylock Funeral Home and will be officiated by Pastor Alan Arthur. Interment will take place at Adams Cemetery following the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home in San Saba.
Born on March 25, 1979, in Brownwood, Texas, Tanner lived a life defined by service, spirit, and a deep love for his family and community. A graduate of Cherokee ISD, Tanner dedicated his life to helping others. He served as a firefighter and EMT—roles that reflected his courage and compassion. But perhaps his most treasured accomplishment was coaching softball. On the field, he found joy in mentoring young athletes and building lasting bonds through teamwork and dedication.
Tanner was baptized as an adult and found peace in the Lord. His faith became a guiding light in his life, offering him strength and serenity.
Known affectionately as "Bubba," Tanner had a big heart and an even bigger personality. He was generous to a fault, endlessly curious, and never afraid to speak his mind with an off-colored sense of humor that could light up any room. A "damn good cowboy," he loved the ranch life—his animals were dear companions—and he found solace under wide Texas skies.
He had a beautiful smile that left an impression on everyone he met. Whether cheering for the Astros or blasting music from his truck, Tanner embraced life with passion. Above all else, he loved his girls—Zoë Dagg and Brooklyn Shanks—with unwavering devotion.
Tanner is survived by his parents Gary Shanks and Susan Shanks; sisters Misty Robleto and Ty Moore; daughters Zoë Dagg and Brooklyn Shanks; nieces Allison Moore, Margaux Robleto, and Serena Robleto; great nephew Truman Moore; great niece Mabree Lou Moore; aunts Pam Shanks and Lisa Eckols; uncle Stewart Eckols; cousin Chad Eckols; and close friend Martha Ferrer and her family.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Terry and Jo Ann Shanks, and Jack and Mildred Weeks.
Tanner's legacy lives on through the lives he touched with laughter, loyalty, grit, and grace. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
Pallbearers: Chad Eckols, John Gold, Dustin Moore, Daniel Zavala, Jose Perez, Juan Rivera, and John Romero.
