Obituary

Nova Sanchez (Shirk), 58, of Lake Brownwood entered into Paradise on May 22, 2026. Nova was born on March 7, 1968, in Brownwood and lived a life full of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories with the people she cherished most.

Nova received her GED from Brownwood and went on to work in different fields throughout her career. Nova worked hard at every job, but it was the friendships and relationships she made along the way that meant the most to her. If you asked Nova, she would have probably told you her favorite careers were being a wife, mother, and homemaker.

Nova loved cookouts, karaoke parties, going to the river, and anything that involved spending time with her family. Nova was always there for a good time and was always the one taking photos to immortalize the occasion. Family holidays were always a special time for Nova and will never be the same for those left behind.

Nova married the love of her life, Gabe Sanchez, on April 26, 2024. Nova waited her entire life to have a fairy-tale marriage, and she found that with Gabe. It was often quoted that "Poppie created a monster" because of how much Gabe spoiled Nova. Nova deserved that kind of love and was so happy to have found it in her final years.

Nova loved unconditionally and this was seen in the never-ending love and support she gave her kids throughout their lives, as well as the love and support she gave to all of her family and friends. Nova's love was bigger than life and will forever be cherished and missed by all whose lives she impacted.

Nova leaves behind her husband Gabe of Lake Brownwood, daughter Marie Holland-Seago of Lake Brownwood, son JR Holland and wife Sonya of Bangs, son David Holland and Amy of Bangs, sisters Diane Guthrie and Gloria Russell of Owens, brother Olen Shirk and wife Tonya of Owens, 10 grandkids, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Nova was preceded in death by her parents Chester and Clara Shirk, brother Gerald Shirk, sisters Debbie McMillan and Linda Shirk Aaron, 3 brothers-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.
