Leo K. Bush
Leo Kenith Bush, age 87, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 25, 2024, in Brownwood.
Leo was born on March 12, 1936, in Longview, Texas to E.K. and Annie (Adams) Bush. Leo attended Brownwood High School but left to join the Air Force in 1953. After his service, Leo began long-haul trucking.
He made his living driving a truck for the next 50+ years. In 1967, he married Linda Sibley (Gillmore) and together they had one daughter, Rhonda. He later married Dolores Jeschke in 1979 in Brady, Texas.
After retirement from the road, Leo and Dolores moved to Jewett, Texas. In 2004, at the age of 68, Leo began working for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice as a Correctional Officer. While in this job, he received the Fighting Spirit Award for his outstanding work ethic and extra effort. After retirement, Leo and Dolores enjoyed living the country life and watching the hummingbirds and deer from their porch. They were happily married for 44 years.
Leo searched and found his church home at Corinth Baptist Church in Teague, Texas. Leo was a born-again Christian and loved The Lord with all his heart. We are comforted in the assurance that he is now with Jesus, reunited with Dolores, happy, healed, and whole.
Leo enjoyed working on his cars and fixing anything he deemed as broken. He loved building model cars and trucks or doing anything with his hands, including whipping up a large batch of banana or chocolate pudding.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents, E.K. and Annie Bush, his wife, Dolores Bush, his stepson, Douglas Jeschke, Sr., and his step son-in-law, Ves Hardy III.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Rhonda Buchanan (Barry) of Brownwood, stepdaughter Dianne Jeschke Hardy of Austin, step daughter-in-law Conise Jeschke of Brady, children from previous marriage (Debra Sibley of Brownwood, Sharon Gilbert of Brownwood, and James Sibley of Missouri), ten grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and his beloved dog, Missy.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Greenleaf Cemetery in Brownwood, Texas. The service will be officiated by Pastor Carl Clark of Corinth Baptist Church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.
