James Alva
Warren
Jun 10, 1941 — Jul 25, 2026
Brownwood
James Alva Warren, affectionately known as "Redman," passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Savior on July 25, 2026, in Brownwood, Texas, at the age of 85. James was born on June 10, 1941, in Coleman, Texas, to Jesse and Annabelle Warren.
As a child, James grew up in the country, he loved the outdoors and spent most of his waking moments fishing and playing outside. He had a vibrant and colorful personality.
He attended Coleman high school and at the age of 17 he signed up for the US army and became a cook during the Vietnam era.
Later, James would come to make some bad decisions that would cost him his freedom for many years. But it would be in that time of incarceration that he would find his greatest treasure, a relationship with his Lord and savior Jesus Christ, and from that moment on, his greatest mission in life would be sharing the love of Jesus Christ with everyone he met. For 19 years, James faithfully attended High Mesa Cowboy Church, where he became known for his colorful personality, welcoming heart, and love of singing praises to the Lord. Redman never met a stranger and was always inviting someone to church. He had a remarkable gift for telling stories from his life's adventures, often reminding others that God could take even our worst decisions and turn them into something good through His grace and mercy.
James lived life with enthusiasm and adventure. Over the years, he wore many hats and embraced many passions, including serving as a rodeo clown and bullfighter. His larger-than-life personality, infectious smile, and unforgettable stories left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
One of the deepest loves of James' life was his sister, Bettie. He loved her dearly and faithfully cared for her during her later years before her passing. James never stopped praising God and encouraging others and pointing people to Christ until the very end. His life was a testimony that faith is not just something to believe -it is something to live every day.
Though his voice has been silenced on earth, there is no doubt it now joins the heavenly chorus, singing praises before the Lord he loved so deeply. His legacy will continue in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, July 30, 2026, at the Coleman City Cemetery, Coleman, Texas, with Bro. Todd King officiating.
