George Bogdan
Nowowiejski
Feb 22, 1949 — May 24, 2026
George Bogdan Nowowiejski, age 77, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2026, in Brownwood, Texas. He was born on February 22, 1949, in Newark, New Jersey, to Zbigniew and Helen (Rubil) Nowowiejski.
George was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, mentor, and friend whose life was marked by faith, intellect, generosity, and a quiet dedication to others. At the same time, he was known for his humor, wit, and unforgettable personality. George always seemed to have the perfect sarcastic comment, clever observation, or well-timed joke for any occasion. His infectious and unmistakable laugh brought smiles to everyone around him and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
George is survived by his beloved wife, Catherine (Ferrara) Nowowiejski, with whom he shared a deep and enduring love. The two did nearly everything together and built a life centered on faith, family, and unwavering support for one another. He is also survived by his sons, Jerome and Scott Nowowiejski; and his cherished grandchildren, Giosué, Isaac, Eliana, Katya, Samuel, and Ezra, who brought him endless pride and joy also survived by his brother Christopher Nowowiejski (Susan) and a sister Irene Wieder (Kenneth). George was an especially wonderful grandfather who never missed an opportunity to talk, play, tell stories, or take the grandchildren on long walks that often became treasured adventures and conversations.
George graduated from Seton Hall Preparatory School before earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering in 1972 from Newark College of Engineering. Over the course of a distinguished career spanning decades and continents, George worked as a Process Engineer for numerous respected companies including Nichols Engineering Company in New Jersey, as well as MW Kellogg, Stone & Webster, Shaw, and LyondellBasell in Texas. He also worked internationally with Emery Oleochemicals in Malaysia. George was not only respected for his knowledge and accomplishments but also admired as a leader and mentor. George's professional expertise, sharp mind, and innovative spirit led him to hold at least two patents during his career.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, George found great joy in mentoring and teaching others. He had a lifelong love of golf, chess, bridge, reading historical books, and traveling to America's National Parks. George loved classic old movies and funny old novelty songs, especially when they earned an eye roll or laugh from his sons, something he thoroughly enjoyed and often leaned into just to get a reaction. He enjoyed good conversation and never hesitated to share his opinions often accompanied by a laugh, and a grin that let everyone know it came from a place of love.
George was deeply rooted in his Catholic faith and generously volunteered his time in Prison Ministry, teaching and guiding people of all ages in their spiritual journeys at Ron Jackson and beyond. He was also involved with Confirmation classes, OCIA Classes for Adults, and served faithfully as both a Lector and Eucharistic Minister during Mass. He will be remembered not only for what he accomplished, but for the joy, warmth, and character he brought into the lives of so many.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests your continued prayers during this time of loss; and those wishing to honor George's memory may consider supporting Good Samaritan Ministries in Brownwood or a cancer support organization.
George's family takes comfort in knowing that his legacy of faith, kindness, wisdom, and devotion to family will continue to live on in all who knew him.
