Doris Lou Porter of San Saba, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2026, at the age of 93, at San Saba Nursing and Rehabilitation. A graveside service for Doris will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Wallace Creek Cemetery in San Saba, Tx. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home in San Saba.
Born on September 9, 1932, to John and Nancy Robbins in San Saba County, Doris spent her life in the warm embrace of her hometown as well as in neighboring Lampasas. She attended school in San Saba where she cherished the values and friendships formed during those formative years.
On August 10, 1953, Doris married James Alton Porter in a ceremony that marked the beginning of a beautiful partnership. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and their shared dedication to family. As a devoted homemaker, Doris found joy in creating a nurturing environment for her family, always ensuring that her home was a place of warmth and comfort.
In her leisure time, Doris was known for her passion for reading and sewing. Each book was a new adventure, and every stitch in her sewing projects reflected her creativity and skill. Her love for these hobbies inspired many and left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to share in her pursuits.
Doris will be remembered not only for her nurturing spirit but also for the countless lives she touched with her kindness, wisdom, and infectious smile. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories for her family and friends.
Doris is survived by her children, James Glenn of Nix, Tx., Gary Alton of Rockport, Tx., Regena Owens of Rockport, Tx., and Julie Ward of Rockport, Tx.; nine grandkids, Jody Cunningham, Jena Porter, James Porter, Bradley Porter, Amanda Porter Myers, Courtney Owens Ramp, Keith Owens, Chelsee Ward Brown, and Quinton Ward; and eleven great-grandkids.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband James Alton Porter; a son-in-law, Travis Owens; two brothers, Tom Robbins and Jess Robbins; as well as a sister, Johnnie Gardner.
