Merle Deen Thompson age 82, of Bend, Texas passed away peacefully on January 28, 2022.  Deen was born on February 15, 1939 at home in Brownwood, Texas to Merle D. Thompson Sr. and Lola (Northcut).  Deen graduated from Early High School and was a well known athlete in Brown County and surrounding areas

Deen married Kay (Millican) on June 30, 1972 at her mother's home in San Saba, Texas.  They lived several different places including Early and Winters as Deen worked for United States Postal Service and retired as a Postmaster in 1999.

After retiring, he and Kay made their home at Sulphur Springs Fishing Camp at the Bend.  He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.  Deen was a gardener and collected stones for his many projects he was working on at the camp.  He was a member of the Methodist Church.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife Kay Thompson, two children; son, Kelly and wife Kandice, daughter Kim Delgado, one grandson, Kason Erwin, one sister Mickie Reel, numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
