David Michael Williams
David M. Williams, 72, a respected advocate in the community, sadly passed away on January 25, 2021. He was born, the third child of four, on December 28, 1948 in the clinic of the Crazy Water Hotel in Mineral Wells, Texas. The family of six lived in Fort Worth, then Arlington until they moved to San Saba, Texas in 1960 to start the family business, Texas Architectural Aggregate, Inc. After graduating Cum Laude from San Saba High School in 1966, he went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Texas at Austin in 1970; he then earned his Doctorate of Jurisprudence at The Texas Tech University School of Law in 1973. Some of David's fondest memories were of playing French horn, twirling fire as drum major and, taking second in district debate team in high school. He enjoyed playing his French Horn in the River City Band for many years. In his law career, David's proudest honor was to serve as the elected County Attorney of San Saba County, Texas for 24 years. Upon his retirement from County service, he focused on managing the family business. David sought to live his life in service of others. He was highly active in the community, serving the Supreme Court of Texas' Judicial Commission for Children,Youth and Families, the Texas Council of Welfare, the Center of Life Resources, the Mental Health Mental Retardation Services (MHMR), Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), the Boy Scouts, SS County Historical Commission, SS County Child Welfare Board, Friends of Rylander Memorial Library, SS County Museum Foundation. David was also past president and board member of The Texas District and County Attorney's Association. He was an Elder in the First Presbyterian Church of San Saba, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Royce Williams, Sr and Billie Louise Crow Williams; paternal grandparents Lucy Hurst Williams and Thomas Lafayette Williams; maternal grandparents Sam Donald Crow and Bana Mae Simmons Crow; aunt Alice Crow; aunt Dorothy Mae Crow Willis; and cousin Bradley Craig Crow and wife Connie. Survivors include his siblings: Deborah Williams Lockhart of Dallas; Joe Royce Williams, Jr and wife Jacinta, and Patricia Williams Fullerton, all of San Saba; cousins: Karl Williams of Ft Worth, Sylvia Willis Hickey and son Bart McNatt of Granbury, Janice Willis Ekanum and Eme Ete Ekanum of Dallas, Scott and Amy Crow of Everman, and Keith Crow of Ft Worth; nieces and nephews: Amy Lockhart and Kelsey Haub of Dallas, Kari Vincent and Adam Lockhart of Dallas; Joe R Williams, III, Robin and Sebastian of Spicewood, as well as Alana Williams, J C Staggs and Walker Phillips; Katherine Williams and Nick Duttle of Boulder; Elizabeth Williams and Joel Daniels, children Gibson, Calvin and Miles of Ashville NY.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Angels Unaware Tree for the San Saba County Child Welfare Board, American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, or your preferred charity.
