Obituary

Christopher Alva, 62, of Brownwood, passed away on April 18, 2026, in Temple. He was born on April 2, 1964, in Lubbock, Texas, to Daniel Alva and Emelia Ortega.

Chris graduated from Lubbock High School and later enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served for four years as an aviation mechanic, CC, and crew captain. Following his military service, he worked alongside his father in the tile business. After his father's retirement, Chris went on to establish his own successful tile business.

Chris married JoAnn on January 2, 2009. Together, they raised nine children, and Chris had lovingly raised three on his own before they met, making a family of twelve in all. He loved his family with his whole heart.

Chris was preceded in death by his son, Charlie Reynolds, and his mother, Emelia Alva.

He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Alva and father Daniel Alva; his children, Leann Gutierrez, Robby Reynolds, Cassie Liggin, Fletcher Liggin, Kimberly Edmonds, Major Alva, Christopher Alva, Daniel Alva, Toby Alva, Lucas Alva, and Elizabeth Alva; 21 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Mary Alva, Diana Alva, Loretta Alva, Connie Alva, and Valerie Rodriguez; and his brothers, Eddy Alva, Rudy Alva, Moses Woods, Danny Woods, Mondo Faz, and Isabel Faz.

Chris loved his family and church family wholeheartedly. He had a deep love for music and especially enjoyed playing his guitar.

A Celebration of Life will be at 11:00 am, Friday, April 24, 2026, at the New Beginnings Church 1001 Belle Plain, Brownwood.
