Barbara Ann Franklin passed peacefully this week in Montgomery, County Texas at the age of 94. She is now with her Mamma and Daddy and uncles and aunts all who loved her and have gone before us.
She was born the first child of her mother and daddy. Russell and Clifton Ransom. Both her mother and daddy were born and raised in the Locker and Richland Springs areas of San Saba County Texas. Both her parents attended Richland Springs High School and after graduation they moved to Houston in 1927 and were married. Bobbi was born in Houston in 1929. In the early days of the depression the family briefly returned to the Ransom family farm north of Richland Springs. Bobbi's sister Myra was born there on the farm.
In the early part of the 1930's the family returned to Houston where they built a small home on the prairie just south of Houston. It was there another sister, Wanda Jean, and two brothers, Russell and Robert were born. So Bobbi had two sisters and two brothers and the family of seven lived in Houston until after World War 2 came to an en d.
During the war effort, while Bobbi was still in her teens, she volunteered at a local airport to learn to act as a plane spotter in the event that enemy planes might be seen. The airport has since fallen in the name of progress, and is no longer in existence.
After the war the family moved and lived briefly in Dallas where Bobbi graduated from Pleasant Grove High School. While in Dallas Bobbi met and married James Stanley Franklin, a U.S. Navy World War 2 Vet. Bobbi and Stan had three children, James Russell, Myra Jean, and Michael Wayne. They were married until 1979 when Stan passed away and was laid to rest in the Richland Springs Texas Cemetery.
Bobbi was preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband Stan and her sister Myra. She is survived by her sister Wanda of Montgomery Texas, her brother Russell of Richland Springs Texas and her brother Robert of Montgomery Texas; Her son James Russell Franklin and his wife Pat of Beaumont Texas, her daughter Myra Jean Scott of Lake Charles Louisiana, her son Michael Wayne Franklin and his wife Carol of Corpus Christi Texas, as well as all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews
