Obituary

Barbara Grace Baker

Barbara Grace (West) Baker, beloved wife, mother, Nana, great-grandmother, and friend, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 1, 2026, at the age of 88. She passed peacefully in San Antonio, surrounded by her family.

Barbara was born on July 26, 1938, in Altadena, California, to Arthur West and Alice Ryner. She graduated from Reseda High School in 1957 and went to work for Del Monte Corporation in San Francisco, where she met Bobby J. "Bob" Baker. They shared 56 years of marriage until Bob's passing in 2023. When she married Bob, Barbara also welcomed his teenage daughters, Raylene and Renita, into her heart as her bonus daughters.

In their younger days, Barbara and Bob loved camping around Eagle Lake in California with family and friends. In the early 1970s, they moved from the San Francisco area to Longview, Texas, and later to San Saba, where they became owners of the family business, San Saba Cap, Inc. After retiring, they moved to Colorado, first to Colorado Springs and later to Montrose. They then returned to Texas, settling in Kerrville to be closer to their grandchildren. In their later years, they lived with their son Bill in San Saba and then with their son Alan in San Antonio, where family could care for them.

Barbara was a member of Pecan Grove Baptist Church in the 1980s and joined Hill Country Bible Church in 2020. To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was always Nana.

Barbara is survived by her bonus daughter, Raylene Williams and husband Michael; her sons, Bill Baker and wife Regina, and Alan Baker and wife Kelly; her grandchildren, Matthew Gomez and wife Brooke, Kandice Johnson and husband Cole, Nathan Navarro and wife Amber, Jason Martin, Alex Baker and wife Melissa, Macie Witte and husband Spencer, Matthew Garcia and wife Giselle, Christina Baker, Alan Baker Jr. and wife Cassidy, Gracelynn Baker, Kaitlyn Baker, Paxton Bushacker, and Lexi Bushacker; her brother, Lee West and wife Linda; and many loving great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Baker; her parents, Arthur West and Alice Ryner; her bonus daughter, Renita Martin; and her grandsons, Easton Baker and Ryan Gomez.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at Blaylock Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at First Presbyterian Church in San Saba, Texas, with Rev. John Alsbrook officiating. Burial will follow at Wallace Creek Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home.

Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
