Obituary

In Loving Memory of Antonio Cardenas

(Pepaw)

May 17, 1948 – August 15, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Antonio, who left this world peacefully on August 15, 2026, at the age of 78. He was born on May 17, 1948, in Lampasas, Texas to Eucarnation (John) and Anita (Correa) Cardenas.

Antonio was truly one of the nicest, kindest, and most loving people anyone could ever have the privilege of knowing. He had a heart of gold and never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His gentle spirit, generous heart, and ability to make everyone around him feel loved will forever be remembered.

Antonio cherished his family above all else. He loved spending time with his loved ones and sitting on the back porch watching his grandchildren play. He also had a lifelong love of trucks and spent his entire working life behind the wheel. Driving a truck was more than a job to him, it was a way of life.

Antonio leaves behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and memories that will never fade. The kindness he showed, the love he gave, and the way he cared for everyone around him will continue to live on through all those who were blessed to know him.

Although our hearts are broken by his passing, we find comfort in knowing that the love Antonio gave us will never leave us. He may no longer be here for us to hug, talk to, or run outside to greet, but he will forever remain in our hearts and be a part of who we are.

Antonio is survived by his loving wife, Samantha Cardenas of Brownwood, Texas; his brother, Jesse Cardenas and wife Lydia of Lampasas, Texas; sister-in-law, Jan Cardenis of California; son, Travis Cardenas and wife Michele of Harker Heights, Texas; son, Jenero Cardenas of Fort Worth, Texas; daughter, Trish Downing and Josh of O’Fallon, Missouri; stepson, Mikie Caperton and wife Leanda of Brownwood, Texas; stepson, Larry Caperton and wife Sandra of Brownwood, Texas; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, 15 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Anita; his brothers, John and Raymond; and his grandsons, AJ Cardenas and Josh Caperton.

Arrangements are entrusted to Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.
